Are You A Genius? Am I? What Is Genius Anyway?

Uncategorized Oct 11, 2016

There are a lot of people talking about Genius these days.

My fascination with Genius began in my early teens. Then I was looking at the classic forms of Genius as we recognise it now - Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Edison, Isaac Newton ... you can tell I had a bias for Science back then!

I was fascinated by what made those people stand out, if they were the definition of a Genius then what was it that made them so?

How were they different from the rest of us who are not perceived as Genius?

For each of them it was slightly different. The things that stood out were:
• They were dedicated and focused on whatever they did.
• They worked tirelessly in the pursuit of something they believed passionately in.
• They were extraordinarily curious about the world and people around them.
• They believed in changing the status quo.
• They were not stopped by failure or challenge, that was an opportunity to learn more!
• They were determined to share their knowledge,...

3 Ways To Find and Use Your Genius

Are you waiting for someone to say it’s ok?

Uncategorized Jul 04, 2016

I think I’ve been waiting for someone to say it’s ok for most of my life. …

One of my mentors, Dan Meredith recently made a video about “you don’t need permission’ in it he spoke about the what ifs and how they don’t really matter either because you don’t need to ask for permission for anything … not your life choices, relationship choices, business or work decisions … that’s not how it works.

I wrote about my take on fear of success vs fear of failure in this earlier post, go check it out. Dan spoke about fear of success and how really you just need to give it a go and get out of your comfort zone … that is if you want to move forwards and create the future you want.

It made me think about Matthew - my fiancé. Growing up with a severe stammer form the age of 6 that lead to bullying throughout most of his life. What I admire...

And The Best Kept Secret Is ...

Uncategorized Jun 02, 2016

“You’re like the BEST KEPT SECRET” a client said to me …

“You’re incredible, I’m totally blown away by you and yet hardly anyone knows about who you are and what you can really do”

“If more people only knew the impact you can have on their lives, their businesses and creating their legacy you’d be rich”…

It was one of those lightening bolt moments … in a flash it had brought the stark reality of just how much  (or rather little) impact I’m having in the world right now into sharp focus.

They weren’t the only person saying it …

It had been like a record stuck on the same great track for some time …

Repeating the same message over and over again in different voices.

Have you ever heard something over and over again and not really heard it clearly?

Thing is I know just how impactful my coaching, teaching and training is when people...

Getting unstuck ... finding inspiration through creation ...

Do you find that when you most need the inspiration to create something that it just doesn’t come?

You just get stuck, blocked and the harder you try the more stuck and less inspired you feel?

Talking to a client today this is exactly how she felt and I can tell you it’s not the first time I’ve heard it by any means!

It comes in many forms, subtly different for each of us.  What is common is the combination of ‘symptoms’ we experience when we get stuck on what we are trying to create.

If you check in with yourself now and think back to the last time you felt stuck, the last time that you felt the pressure to create or produce something left you frozen, paralised and unable to think of a single step that would take you closer to what you wanted…..

I would say that your symptoms would show up something like this……

      • an uneasy, uncomfortable feeling
      • a blank mind that becomes full of voices
      • those voices saying not so helpful...

Why is there always a cost?

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2016

It often strikes me that one of the greatest challenges people face in life is determining the value of things that don’t have a financial price tag on them.

For example, most of us find it easy to determine if something is worth the ammount of money that is being asked for it – it is worth that ammount of money to you?

In fact personally this is one of the challenges I face when I’m outside the UK – constant conversion back to Sterling to know if I think something is worth the price that is being asked for it.

Now if I ask you how much you value time, fun, freedom, autonomy, a smile, laughter, your future, your life….. how would you answer?

Perhaps you have a really clear answer and if some of those are deeply heald values for you, if they are things that are so important to you that they make up the very fabric of you being trully you then they will have significant ‘value’ – the price tag would be pretty...

In fear of failure? In fear of success?

Uncategorized Apr 23, 2016

It’s taken me a while to get around to writing this post. Classic procrastination of what to write, how to find my voice, who to write the post to and many many more doubts, questions and hesitations.

Two years ago I designed my flagship programme, Your Genius Equation. It's been sitting around on paper, in my mind, in my computer waiting for me to be ready to let the world know what it is I do, jsut waiting to be created.

To say it's been frustrating at times would be an understatment! In fact many peopel who know me and what I have to offer have been driven half crazy at my lack of action. Lately I was wondering what was actually stopping me from launching the Genius Equation and sharing my work with those who want to follow and experience it.

You see this is not typical of me. When I started working at the University of Cambridge I created over 30 courses in 6 months and delivered them to over 1200 people in that time. I went on to create a team that served every...

Breaking through glass ceilings ...

Picture this … you’ve reached the pinnacle of your career, a position no-one would have predicted for you ever let alone so early in your career. You love what you do, believe in what you do, have achieved more in 3 years than many would in 10 and yet something isn’t right, you know there’s more you can offer but not here, not now, not like this.

Sound familiar?

It was late 2011 when I realised I’d hit a glass ceiling.

I’d started working at the University of Cambridge in March 2008, in 6 months I’d written over 30 different courses, established and delivered a full programme of skills training for over 1200 Postgraduate students. By early 2010 I had been promoted to head of Learning and Development for Postgraduate students and managed a team of 5 trainers and 2 administrators with a very substantial budget and over 6000 active participants attending and raving about our courses …  at one of the...

What's Your Kryptonite?

Uncategorized Dec 15, 2015

A little while ago a client of mine said ...

“You’re so lucky to be a coach, you must have everything in your life and business totally sorted!”

You could have heard a pin drop …..

It’s easy to put coaches, trainers, experts, on a pedestal and think they have it all sorted.

The truth is that maybe my biggest advantage and greatest challenge is that I know just how much more there is for me to work on …

… after all, even people who help people need help from others!

You don’t have to be a coach to wear an invisible cloak and appear superhuman.

The thing is, as we all know, even superheroes have their weakness ….

It’s taken a while but I've finally realised that my kryptonite is asking ..

I'm so used to being the 'strong one' that asking for help, sales, money, support, ... cripples me!

I actually admire people who ask - I feel there's great strength in it!

But, I've been telling...
